Teaching

Elisa offers piano and harp lessons for all ages, levels beginner to late intermediate. She strives to create a challenging yet enjoyable atmosphere for her students, instilling good instrument technique, musicality, and theory knowledge in her students while also taking their unique needs into account. She believes everyone is capable of creating beautiful music, and it is her hope that her instruction will help foster a lifelong love of music in her students.

Elisa uses the Faber & Faber books as a core curriculum for piano students beginning their musical journey. As students progress, they will be introduced to the Hanon technical method and level-appropriate pieces from foremost Classical composers such as Bach, Mozart, and Chopin. Students will develop their strong technical foundation while also gaining a solid inventory of piano repertoire from all musical periods, Baroque to Modern.

For harp lessons, Elisa uses a blend of technical material from harpists such as Deborah Friou, Yolanda Kondonassis, and Carlos Salzedo. Students will begin their musical journey working through the Suzuki harp method, and they will also supplement their repertoire with traditional folk harp music. As students progress, they will be introduced to level-appropriate core harp repertoire, such as compositions by Salzedo, Grandjany, and Debussy. While the focus will remain on Classical harp training and repertoire, students will also expand their repertoire to include pieces from other genres, such as folk and popular music.
